The Muslim Family and the Challenges of Education in the Digital Age

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the impact of modern digital media on the educational roles within the Muslim family in light of the rapid technological transformations. The importance of the study lies in examining how these media affect social upbringing, family communication, and the system of reference values. The research addresses a contemporary topic that touches the core of the family and educational structure, while also highlighting the ethical and value-related challenges arising from the increasing reliance on digital media. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach to observe the manifestations of these media's influence on the family, alongside an inferential method to derive educational alternatives based on Islamic principles.

The results revealed a decline in the direct educational role of parents due to the strong presence of digital media, and a disruption in the value system among children. The study also showed weakened traditional family communication and an increased risk of behavioral and intellectual deviation among the youth in the absence of value-based guidance and conscious supervision. The research recommended reinforcing value-based and spiritual education within the family and adopting mindful digital guidance for children, based on dialogue and guidance rather than absolute prohibition. Furthermore, the study emphasized the importance of enhancing digital awareness among both parents and children to achieve a balance between benefiting from technology and preserving authentic Islamic values.
